“My passion is to foster a healing environment and provide patients with tools to achieve their best quality of life.” – Janelle Marie Velasco
Janelle is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She is nationally certified by NCCAOM and currently holds a license in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. Her specialties include emotional and neurological conditions, digestive disorders, women’s health, and physical injuries. She strives to promote patient education and overall wellbeing with an emphasis in quality of life at all stages of life.
Janelle became interested in Chinese medicine over the years as she partook in her own healing process with acupuncture and herbal medicine. Since childhood, Janelle travelled frequently and lived abroad on and off. After witnessing the absence of accessible healthcare in several countries, she became passionate about alternative medicine. She dedicated her studies to classical Chinese medicine as it provided the most extensive medical theory and a profound understanding of wellness and preventive care. This satisfied her search for a medicine that would be applicable to individuals living in a variety of conditions and at varying stages of life. After attending UC Berkeley for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Peace and Conflict studies, she went on to receive her Master of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts.
Her practice emphasizes the importance of patient education and lifestyle practices. She supplements acupuncture with classical adjunct therapies including tuina, cupping, moxibustion, food therapy, medical qi gong, and herbal medicine.
